Sports Massage
Sports massage is the scientific manipulation of soft tissue to
prevent damage or to encourage recovery from injury. Treatment helps
to restore normal functional activity to the various structures
of the body.
This therapy works by increasing the blood flow to the affected
tissues, providing them with increased oxygen and nutrients which
they can use to repair themselves. Manipulation of the tissues also
improves the condition of the muscle fibres, realigns scar tissue
and prevents adhesions from forming. All of this leads to a much
faster return to activity.
Massage also helps to alleviate the aches and pains felt after
training.
A treatment will usually consist of an initial physical examination,
a suitable massage to the affected area and if required stretches
and rehabilitation exercises.
